The LETARC site has now been updated with a new Emergency Communications section. The primary page of that section will serve as the new ARES information point. On that page will be articles related to EmComm and on the right-hand sidebar will be the new EmComm Compendium. The compendium will eventually be a collection of documents detailing different aspects of EmComm operations within GCEC and LETARC. The first document to be published in this series is the new Participant’s Guide. If you are interested in participating in Skywarn or ARES, please look at that document to see the requirements for participation.
In addition to the primary page under the section, there are sub-pages available under the menu pull-down. The first is the Skywarn page, which contains Radar loops, SPC forecast information, and advisory information from NWS.
Finally, we have a new Emergency Communications Participant Registration form that is also available under the Emergency Communications menu pull-down. This form is only visible to those who have registered on the LETARC site and are logged in. For those interested in participating in EmComm activities, the form collects several pieces of information about your training and operating capability. This will allow us to better track our readiness posture. Completion of the form and keeping it current is a prerequisite to and an ongoing requirement of participation in EmComm activities.
Please consider joining those of us who are using our amateur radio communications skills to help our community in times of need!
